The St-Pierre/De Salaberry Handi-Transit Corporation is responsible for the Handi-Transit services in the Village of St-Pierre-Jolys and the R.M. of De Salaberry. The municipalities contribute funds towards the maintenance and purchase of vehicles, while the province provides a Mobility Disadvantaged Transportation Program Regional Incentive Grant for the operations.
The Handi-Transit is designed to be utilized as a means of transporting the Mobility Disadvantaged, Senior Services, and the General Public to and from appointments.
Mini-Van
The Mini-Handivan is located in the garage at the Chalet Malouin in St. Malo at 14 St. Hilaire St.
The capacity is 4 seats with the driver, and can hold up to two wheelchairs.
Clients must agree to the terms outlined in the St. Pierre/De Salaberry Handi-Transit Transportation Contract prior to using the van.
The following was approved by the Board of the St-Pierre/De Salaberry Handi Transit Corporation
- Travel Rates for residents within the Village de St. Pierre and the R.M. of De Salaberry boundaries
- Mileage calculated at $0.50 per kilometer (odometer starts and ends where the van is housed in St. Malo)
- Driver fees calculated at $5.00 per hour from pick up to drop off
- Any parking fees incurred throughout the day
- A meal for your driver if the trip is longer than 4 hours and occurs during regular mealtimes
- Travel rates for residents outside the Village de St. Pierre and the R.M. of De Salaberry boundaries
- Mileage calculated at $0.60 per kilometer (odometer starts and ends where van is housed in St. Malo)
- Driver fees calculated at $15.00 per hour (clock starts form the time the driver picks up the van from its location in St. Malo until he/she returns it back to St. Malo)
- Outside residents are required to use one of the St. Pierre / De Salaberry Handi-Transit Board’s registered drivers
- Any parking fees incurred throughout the day
- A meal for your driver if the trip is longer than 4 hours and occurs during regular mealtimes
- Residents from Village de St. Pierre and RM of De Salaberry are responsible to find their own driver or they can hire one of our registered drivers at the rate posted above. If providing their own driver, proof of a valid class 5 license is mandatory and needs to be on file prior to van going out.
- Residents outside Village de St. Pierre and RM of De Salaberry are required to hire a driver that has been approved by and registered with the St. Pierre / De Salaberry Handi-Transit Board at the rate posted above
- The Mini-Handivan is not to be used as an ambulance.
- Alcohol is prohibited in the van.

- Invoices will be mailed out to clients and can be paid in person at the Village de St. Pierre Office during regular office hours or payments can be mailed to:

Large Van
The Large Van is located at the St. Pierre Fire Hall. The van can accommodate a variety of capacity options which include:
- 18 seats and 1 wheel chair;
- 16 seats plus 2 wheel chairs; or
- 12 seats plus 3 wheel chairs
The following rates were approved by the Board of the St. Pierre/De Salaberry Handi Transit Corporation:
For customers within the boundaries of the Village and the R.M. of De Salaberry
- 5.00 and $0.50 per loaded km (from where the customer is picked up to where they are unloaded)
- 10 and $0.50 per km (from the departure of the minivan to its return to the original point)
- The driver is paid 14$ per hour; with a minimum of 3 hours.
For all other transports
- Flat fee of $150 per trip
- Services to Seniors (Village and R.M. of De Salaberry)
- Cost for driver is $14 per hour after 6 hours
- Kms paid at $.50 per km after 200 kms
- Others
- Cost for driver is $14 per hour
- Kms paid at $.60 per km after 200 kms
Other Information
The Village of St-Pierre-Jolys office has a list of qualified drivers who are paid $14.00 an hour and can claim a meal after 4 hours.
The Large Van is not to be used as an ambulance and alcohol is prohibited inside the van.
