The RM of De Salaberry is pleased to announce the release of the Concept Plan for a new park in the community of St. Malo. The plan was developed in partnership with the St. Malo LUD, St. Malo Chamber of Commerce, the local chapter of the Manitoba Métis Federation and with help from Economic Development Council for Manitoba Bilingual Communities (CDEM). The RM with its partners will now be finalizing the plan so that we can secure funding and turn this concept into a reality.
The park will be situated on land purchased by the RM from the Government of Manitoba in 2017 at the previous site of an Esso gas station where Highway 59 intersects with Avenue de la Grotte. The land will be transformed into a beautiful park that will compliment the placement of the White-Tailed Deer Statues. The park will become a place to congregate and learn about our shared history through informative placards that tell the story of our shared history with a Red River Cart that symbolizes the confluence of European pioneers with the Indigenous Peoples who shared their land with us. Together, the community of St. Malo signifies the strength of shared history, a proud history, that will be embolized through an stunning showpiece that will be highly visible as you enter the community.
